data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">At the 2024 annual meeting of the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/asroc.org.tw\/index_e.php\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ASROC (the Astronomical Society of the Republic of China)<\/a>,<\/strong> Deputy Director Tien-Chuan Kuo of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tasa.org.tw\/en-US\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>TASA (Taiwan Space Agency)<\/strong><\/a> gave an exciting talk describing the future of TASA and its challenges and opportunities, which raised enormous interest from the astronomical community. In the same meeting, <a href=\"https:\/\/twspaceunion.org\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>TSU (Taiwan Space Union)<\/strong><\/a> president, Prof. Wing Ip, held an extended discussion session on the drafting of the white paper on the decadal planning of Taiwan\u2019s space program \u300c\u5341\u5e74\u592a\u7a7a\u8abf\u67e5\u767d\u76ae\u66f8\u300dfor the 4<sup>th<\/sup> 10-year plan of TASA<a href=\"#ftnt\" name=\"_ftnref1\"><sup>[1]<\/sup><\/a>.<\/p><p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Inspired by this vibrant development of Taiwan\u2019s space science, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cag.ntnu.edu.tw\/index.php\/en\/main\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Center of Astronomy and Gravitation (CAG)<\/strong><\/a> of the <a href=\"https:\/\/en.ntnu.edu.tw\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>National Taiwan Normal University (NTNU)<\/strong><\/a> is determined not to be absent from the grand roadmap of Taiwan\u2019s space program. With the university&#8217;s full support, we decided to hold a workshop on <span style=\"color: #003366;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #003366;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cag.ntnu.edu.tw\/index.php\/en\/events\/GaSSE2025\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>Geospace and Solar System Exploration \u2013 Mission Concept, Design, Development, and Deployment<\/em><\/a><\/strong><\/span> in February 2025 (GaSSE2025) as the first step. Because GaSSE2025 was quite a \u201csuccessful\u201d workshop and strongly enthused the audience, workshop participants hoped CAG would continue it. So here we are.<\/p><p style=\"text-align: justify;\">GaSSE2026 will follow the main theme of GaSSE2025 and focus on space mission initiatives, planning, and sciences, covering<\/p><ul style=\"text-align: justify;\"><li style=\"list-style-type: none;\"><ul><li>Geospace exploration<\/li><li>Earth orbital missions<\/li><li>Near-Earth missions<\/li><li>Inner Solar-System missions<\/li><li>Interplanetary missions<\/li><li>Deep Space missions<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul><p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In particular, topics on Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR), lunar missions, and CubeSats are encouraged. In addition, related topics in astronomy, space science, and space-based astronomy are also very welcome. Oral and poster presentations are both welcome. Oral presentations include both invited and contributed talks. Stimulating plenary talks given by internationally renowned leading scientists in Solar System exploration are invited, including:<\/p><ul style=\"text-align: justify;\"><li style=\"list-style-type: none;\"><ul><li>Wing Ip (NCU) on \u201c<em>On Peaceful Space Exploration \u2013 Near and Far<\/em>\u201d<\/li><li>Scott Bolton<a href=\"#ftnt\" name=\"_ftnref2\"><sup>[2]<\/sup><\/a> (SwRI: Southwest Research Institute) on \u201c<em>Juno Results and Follow-on Concepts for Jupiter System and Ice Giant Exploration<\/em>\u201d<\/li><li>Paul Hartogh<a href=\"#ftnt\" name=\"_ftnref3\"><sup>[3]<\/sup><\/a> (MPS: Max Planck Institute for Solar System Research) on \u201c<em>The JUpiter ICy moons Explorer: Science and Mission Overview<\/em>\u201d<\/li><li>Michael Kueppers<a href=\"#ftnt\" name=\"_ftnref4\"><sup>[4]<\/sup><\/a> (ESAC: European Space Astronomy Centre) on \u201c<em>The Comet Interceptor mission \u2013 Visiting a pristine world<\/em>\u201d<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul><p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The GaSSE2026 workshop will be held from 2026 April 14 to 17 (Tuesday to Friday) on the <a href=\"#location\">Gongguan campus of NTNU<\/a> in Taipei City, Taiwan. The event is aimed at research scientists, engineers, and academic faculty. The 4<sup>th<\/sup> 10-year plan will be from 2032 to 2041 consequently.<\/p><p style=\"text-align: justify;\">[2] Dr. Bolton is the Principal Investigator for Juno, a NASA&#8217;s \u2018New Frontiers program\u2019 mission launched in 2011 to study Jupiter&#8217;s origin, atmosphere, magnetosphere, and interior structure, which began primary science in 2016.<\/p><p style=\"text-align: justify;\">[3] \u00a0Dr. Hartogh is the head of the planetary atmospheres group at MPS, the Principal Investigator of the Submillimetre Wave Instrument (SWI) on the JUpiter ICy moons Explorer (JUICE), which is an interplanetary spacecraft developed by the European Space Agency (ESA) to orbit and study three icy moons of Jupiter: Ganymede, Callisto, and Europa.<\/p><p style=\"text-align: justify;\">[4] Dr. K\u00fcppers is the Project Scientist of the Comet Interceptor, an ESA-led mission. Comet Interceptor will be the first mission to visit a long-period comet coming directly from the Oort Cloud. After launch, the spacecraft will be &#8216;parked&#8217; in space before moving to intercept a suitable pristine comet.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section capacity limits registration to 60 participants. A registration fee of US$250 is required for overseas participants, NT$3,000 for local participants, and NT$1,500 for students. Registration fees are waived for all invited speakers. Registration fees are also waived for student volunteers. A welcome reception on Day 1, the workshop banquet on Day 3, plus coffee\/tea\/snacks for breaks and lunches for all four days, are included in the registration.
